The Shady Towel Story

I’ve been an athlete and golfer for most of my life. A few years ago, though, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. One of the biggest challenges MS brought into my life was heat intolerance. It took away the joy and freedom of playing a full round of golf - something I’ve always loved doing with friends and family.

During the summer, I could only make it through three or four holes before my body started shutting down. My energy would evaporate. My vision would blur. I’d feel faint and dizzy, and sometimes my husband had to tee up my ball because I couldn’t even bend over. More than once, I sat in the clubhouse watching my friends and family playing while I had to quit early.

I tried everything I could find to stay cool - wet towels, fans, ice packs, cooling rags, anything I could get my hands on. Nothing worked.

Then one day, sitting in the golf cart, I took my towel and wedged it into the rooftop handle to block the direct sun. That small patch of shade changed everything, and the relief was immediate. In that moment, I knew I had to find a way to make that simple solution permanent.

I searched everywhere online, assuming something like this already existed. But it didn’t. So I built it.

That small necessity turned into an idea. Then a prototype. Then a pattern. Then dozens of iterations. Eventually, the Shady Towel was born. This lightweight, easy-to-attach towel creates instant shade and cooling relief by blocking the direct sun. It keeps a towel right where you need it, ready to wipe your face, cool your hands, and help you reset before the next shot.

With the Shady Towel, I was finally able to finish a full round of golf again. I even went on to win my club championship.

I can’t cure MS, lupus, skin cancer, or the many conditions that make heat so difficult for people. But I can help golfers and outdoor lovers stay on the course longer, more comfortably, and safely. Because we all deserve to spend time doing what we love with the people who matter most.

Today, golfers across the country are discovering that the Shady Towel isn’t just for people with MS. It’s for anyone who has ever suffered the brutal heat of a summer round. Whether you’re managing a health condition, protecting your skin, or simply trying to stay comfortable on a hot course, the Shady Towel creates relief right where you need it. Sometimes the difference between quitting early and finishing strong is something as simple as a little shade.

Stay in the game.
